Updates and Stuff

They WON! Knitting for Brisbane's Needy won the $5000 cash grant (see Aug. 11th post)...huge thanks to everyone who voted for them!!

Here's a pic of what has been keeping me busy the past few several days....five pounds of Rambouillet fleece!

The box didn't seem that big so I figured I'd wash it all in one batch in the bath....it's truly amazing at how much it expands in water!

After a couple of days of drying I started carding. I thought this would be the most tedious and boring part of the process but found it to be quite relaxing and almost hypnotic. I carded for three and a half hours and only stopped because my arms were beginning to tire a bit. Can't wait to begin spinning....Speaking of spinning, did I mention my DH has been building/designing a second wheel for me? It's nearly complete so will soon be able to post some pics of this quite unique wheel...check back in a couple of days...it'll be worth it!  By then I should also have pics of my latest wristwarmer design with matching hat and scarf. I'm quite pleased with this design...it looks complicated but in reality is quite simple. Enough said...better get back to work and get the pics posted so you can judge for yourself.

You spin you're own yarn? Wow! I'm in awe of anyone who has the skills to spin. I think it's wonderful that you do that. Spinning is so much apart of everyones history, it's really nice to read that you are keeping it alive.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
